My daughter Dawn has never been the assertive type, although she has certainly shown improvement through using this book. 'No' can be a difficult word to say, but I am proud to see that she is graduallly learning new ways. Still, the nickname 'Easy Dawn' may never drop entirely out of use among the villagers. Images of her behaviour on the night of her eighteenth birthday are said to be indelibly stored in the memories of the whole rugby team (not to mention the scrum-half's mobile phone).

I read this book way back in the 80s when it first came out & found it tremendously useful vis a vis how to deal with a rather demanding relative & not chew myself to bits about it.
When I Say No I Feel Guilty - By: , 16 Jun 2005
I found this book extreemly usefal, I always thought by using the broken record technic I would be considered a rude person, but this book shows just how it can be used without coming across as a rude person. I have often in my life found myself giving voluntary inforamation but this book show you how to get away from doing that. It helps with taking Criticim lightly by using negative assertion, It helps with asking for reasons for being criticised by the critic till he/she is exhausted
An excellent book - By: , 04 Jun 2005
This book reallly helped me with being assertive. I didn't reallly think I needed much help in this area as I thought I was quite an assertive person except when it comes to asking for money back from close friends but this book was enlightening. I found some of the concepts reallly hard to accept & I realised how appologetic I am when the situation does not require. I couldn't put this book down, I found it so helpful. I highly recomend this book to everyone, even if you think you are assertive. It is an enlightening, well written book & absolutly everyone should have a copy.
Written 30 years ago but still valid - By: , 25 Aug 2004
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Even though it has been published in 1975, almost 30 years ago, the observations of the author are still valid today. Helpful are the dialogues quoted drawing a picture how best to cope with critics. This way the reader is animated to participate. I prefer this book to others I bought on assertiveness as it is more straight forward & not only work orientated. The author addresses possible confrontations in everyday life.
