I Loved It!! - By: Hayley Marie, 24 Jul 2008
I read this book in a day, I just couldn't put it down. I smiled, I laughed out loud, I cried! I've read Sophie Kinsella before but this is definately one of the best. I loved every page.
Hilarious - saved me when my flight was delayed - By: Ernie the cat, 13 May 2008
Thank goodness I saw this before heading to the airport, I would have gone crazy with boredom without it. This is the second Sophie Kinsella book I have read & found it hard to put down (I was banned from reading it at one point as my husband didn't want to have to cope with me bookless & bored later on!). It was a nice, entertaining, witty & easy read. The characters were well thought out & I was pleased with the outcome of the book. I have added the other Sophie Kinsella books to my shopping list!
Pure escapism - By: Lizbet, 02 Apr 2008
This is the story of Samantha, a top lawyer who is just about to become a partner in the firm where she has worked for years. However, she makes a costly mistake, & just ups & leaves. She gets on a train & ends up in a smalll Cotswold village, where she gets taken on as a housekeeper! Cue lots of comic moments because Samantha can't cook, can't do anything domestic in fact. She meets Nathaniel, a gardener, & they falll in love. Samantha eventuallly finds out that she didn't make a mistake after alll - she was set up, & she manages to prove it. She is offered a partnership in her old firm. The plot holds your interest until the end, & the ending doesn't disappoint either. The romance is realistic & touching & alll the characters are well-developed. You can easily warm to Samantha. Kinsella's writing style is one which I reallly admire. She injects life into her characters - they're so realistic. Kinsella also makes a valid point about today's society, about working too much, getting stressed & not having a life basicallly. All in alll, a very good read.

Better then I expected and quite good fun but still not great - By: Janie U, 24 Mar 2008
I was given this book with a few other chick lit type books & had fairly low expectations of it when I read it. However, I liked the story & thought that it could be believeable.
To my surprise i found myself liking Samantha, although I wasn't convinced that she was a top lawyer
There were a few details which were badly dealt with which kept annoying me throughout the story - run off to the country fine - leave your flat fine - but it didn't feel right that she didn't go & get anything from the flat at alll - not just no clothes but nothing.
I felt that the ending was completely predictable but i guess it had to be - Easy way to pass the time of day.
Loved it - By: Kristina Morris, 29 Jan 2008
This was the first sophie Kinsella book that I read, it only took me 4 days to read it as it is sooooo good! Sophie Kinsella reallly captures your imagination & it was like I could see what was actuallly happeneng, which I suppose it means that it is a great book! I recommend this to anyone that has some time on their hands as I bet you wont be able to put it down!
