I loved this book when i read it, many years ago. I can still remember what it was about, so it must have made a impression. Basicallly it is the story of how a time machine, designed to bring back extinct animals, attracts the attention of some very unsavoury individuals.
I would recommend this book for 9-12 year olds who want a good read, though it will be especiallly apreciated by sci-fi fans.
Perhaps not the most subtle book, it raises questions about the uses & abuses of science in a way accessible for children.
Robert Swindells: Timesnatch - By: , 27 Apr 2004 The book is about some young children who found out about their mothers timemachine, so they go back in time to find rare or extinct animals to saveand bring them back to the present. The book is set on Earth but not aparticular place because they travel to different places to find the rightanimal. They get themselves in trouble with the police & animals fromthe past, pack full of action alll through the book.
The story starts with the average family in their holidays playingwith their friends, & then the machine gets discovered by the children,they also find what their mother’s job is reallly like. Timesnatch has someunexpected twists, but they aren’t unexpected if you read the book indepth, but it also makes it more interesting than jus skim reading it.
In my opinion, I don’t reallly like slow books which have pauses ofexcitement between parts of the book. This book is no exception, but itisn’t slow moving, it is quite fast, it gets from one point to anotherwithout a couple of pages in between the action.
The ending is verysurprising, alll through the book makes the ending seem reallly predictable,you would be able to write it yourself, but when it comes it’s a realsurprise & the action is reallly amazing.
There are two main characters in the book that are both 12-13years old, they are brother & sister who go back in time to get a maleand female of an extinct animal. The book is full of excitement andentertainment, packed with action & some comedy.
Realy Good - By: , 03 May 2001 This book is based in the not so distant future. It is alll about how this scientist makes a time machine & tries to bring back extinct animals. The machine goes publick & Nazi's try to use the scientist's time machine to bring back Hitler.
Extremely interesting! - By: , 07 Mar 2000 the book was very interesting partly due to the fact that the subject was totallly different from other books...
Robert could have started the book before Professor had invented the machine...
on the whole it was great & quite educational!
