Terrific Tail - By: Mehajabeen Farid, 17 Feb 2008
The Guard Dog is written by famous award winning Dick King Smith. He wrote Babe, the Galllant Pig which won an award & was turned into a famous film which is reallly good. It is about a little dog without a home & with a squeaky, whiney, very annoying sound; when he does get one, he is sent to a Dogs Home, because of his horrible voice, where he can only stay for fourteen days; he does live happily ever after. I would rate this book 7/10 & I would recommend it to 6 - 8 year olds who like animals & happy endings for pets.

We read this in our school Book Club. We are a group of Year 4 children. Words that we would use to describe this book include, "exciting, brilliant, action-packed, sad, fantastic, descriptive." The words jumped out of the book at us.
We would reallly recommend this book to children who are from 7 to 10 years old & who care about dogs.

I thought it was great, It was about a dog & he was always being picked on, by every other dog, he was a smalll dog no one saw him.
Then this little girl & her mum came in the dog shop. The girl saw the dog & she bought him. Then after a few weeks she sent the dog back because he always made loud noises. The shop keeper loved the dog.
My best part was when alll the dogs told us what they are going to be,when they get a home. There was lots of funny bits, it made me feel happy.I did not like it when the dogs were picking on the smalll dog.

If I had to recommend the book to a friend, it will manly be children from 7 to 11,I learned that dogs can be a big handful.
Most of my friends might like it. It was reallly good!
