Fast Paced, Attention Grabber. - By: Marcel Schutzman, 11 Nov 2008

I have had this book lying around for a while & never reallly got around to reading it, recently started reading it & can't believe it took me so long!!

I do not understand the complaints people have about this book - So far complaints regarding the language used, & the violence? That's part of the story. An ex-SAS soldier set & and being hunted down to be killed, it wouldn't be action without these.

Very fast paced at times & enjoyable to read, will make sure i get the other books within this set.
NOT EVEN FOR TEENAGERS!!!!! - By: P. Curtis, 20 Oct 2008
NOT EVEN FOR TEENAGERS!!!!
My son was reading this book & loved it! Loved it that was until he reached the first of numerous swear words. He stopped reading this book at page 89 when he felt the use of the F word was unnecessary & offensive.
I am quite bemused that so many of people writing these comments freely overlook the use of such language. Justifying it by saying it's only language that children hear in the school playground - well firstly where on earth do you alll send your children to school? & secondly you can not control what children do in a school playground, but you can control the books that children read!
I've no doubt that this is a good story but I've also no doubt that other authors are just as good & do not feel the need to offend by using such unnecessary language.
To alll you Andy McNab fans - read Charlie Higson instead!

Boy Soldier, first in an exciting series!! - By: Matt G, 15 May 2008
This is the first of the explosive series by Andy McNab. Andy uses his experience as an SAS soldier in this book. It starts of with Danny's life long ambition to join the army. But his chance is destroyed when he finds out that his Grandfather (Fergus Watts) betrayed his country. Danny & his friend Elena start trying to locate Fergus. They find him by tracking his mobile. His house appears to be in the middle of nowhere but is it? Also Danny has ex-reporter Eddie Moyles, who wrote an article saying that Fergus Watts was a traitor, is on his case & trying to un-cover the true story. What Danny doesn't know is that people are on his case but why? When he finds his Grandfather will he discover the truth? Is Fergus the real traitor? He also has more to deal with that originallly thought... I very much enjoyed this book.

great thriller - McNab uses his knowledge brilliantly - By: Stampy, 19 Mar 2008
This action thriller from former SAS soldier Andy McNab is a true testament to his time as a boy soldier. He is able to give a detailed description of his experiences in a highly entertaining teenage novel with a great account on action, weapon & procedures.

The stereotypical teenager lead character of Danny Watts helps readers learn about the SAS as Danny goes on the run with his grandfather, a former soldier who operated as an undercover operative. And as Danny starts to learn more about survival procedures Fergus learns a lot from his grandson to.

The plot is consistent with action & mystery around every corner as the pair face numerous obstacles in their quest to be free.

The attention to detail by McNab is excellent & very formal. At times you wonder if it's not a novel but a SAS handbook, especiallly with a list on the first page about code-words & their meanings, but regardless it's entertaining from beginning to end & the follow ups of Payback, Avenger & Meltdown are must reads after this first instalment of the series.
