Guards! Guards! Is one of the BEST Disc world novals - Not THE best,that's got to be reserved for Night Watch - but still an excellentintroduction to the unforgetable characters of the Ank-Morpork CityWatch.
The best bit? Vimes standing in the doorway to the SunshineSanctury with a loaded Dragon wearing a shift saying, "What you've got toask your self is - Are you feeling Lucky??" You've GOT to read it!!

Guards! Guards! is the eigth novel in the series & the first about the night watch. The story follows around Carrot a human who believes himself to be a Dwarf, not only that but the largest dwarf ever, over sixth foot!, in this adventure a strange cult is messing with magic & soon it becomes the job of the night watch the novelty police force of Ankh Morpork to undo whats been done. Swords, dragons, strange brotherhoods, sly rulers & a drunken captain make this another triumph for Terry.
Even in his eigth novel Terry still hasn't lost his quick to the point tongue in check humour & should win awards for it. Guards! Guards! maybe his eight novel but is the first to follow the night watch so you can read this even if you havn't read the previous seven.
Buy any Discworld Book today!!! - By: , 31 Mar 1999 I have read several of Terry Pratchett's Discworld books more than once - & Guards! Guards! is just typical of them. Incredibly funny, intelligently written & and beautifully satirizing some of the classical works. Until Pratchett came along, I had never read any fiction books - let alone improbable fantasy - but the science books etc must take a back seat when Terry launches a new tome. But beware, if you've got no brain, you'll have no appreciation of the puns or the humour.
