Nostalgic Spin-Off. - By: Sybok, 11 Sep 2008
This is apparently the first EVER Star Trek spin-off novel, written by James Blish who novelised the original episodes.
The basic story involves Spock becoming duplicated in a transporter accident somehow, but there is a different spin on this idea despite a similar premise to 'The Enemy Within' from the the original show.
This is a readable enough tale & is not padded into an unnecessary length. The dialogue is sometimes unconvincing, character-wise, as Blish gets the conversations bogged down in scientific theories, debate & speculation, often at the expense of a sense of jeapordy & convincing dialogue. But at least the science is sound, with not a trace of technobabble as far as I can see. So even this smalll criticism has an upside. Overalll though this is an intelligent, worthwhile & entertaining read, that's also short & sweet. Recommended.
