Although this is the first in a series of three books, the story being continued in The House At Old Vine & the House at Sunset, it is complete in itself, however reading it will no doubt start a curiosity to know what happens in later centuries. By the end of the book athanks to Miss Lofts wonderfull recreation of time & place readers will be as familier with The Town House & its setting of Baildon as they are of their own. .
