A great introduction to psychology - By: D Morland, 19 Dec 2007
I bought this book on the reccomendation of a friend with a psychology background. Without being either patronising or too technical this was a great introduction for a layperson to the way people think & respond to eachother. A well balanced & amusingly written book. I'll be looking out for more by this author.
an ideal present - By: Ken Tone, 13 Dec 2007
Don't judge a book by its cover; there are remarkably few giraffes in this book!

What is in it is a clever & witty discussion of well-known proverbs, & how they relate to human behaviour. Well worth a read, & an ideal present.
Brilliant idea for a book! - By: Middle Sister, 18 Nov 2007
Brilliant idea, intelligently written, relating well-known proverbs to everyday situations (we don't alll feel the same about footballl, however!). Just goes to show you can't live your life by a set of rules.
Don't judge this book by its cover (although that's quite good too) - By: Jessica J, 04 Nov 2007
I reallly enjoyed this. I've done psychology at A'level & recognised quite a lot of the studies & theories but what I reallly liked is the way this book shows how they fit in to our every day lives & the things we say & do. Reallly easy to read - you can impress your friends with your knowledge & understanding of human nature after reading this book!
Brilliant idea and hugely enjoyable book - By: John B, 02 Nov 2007
Bought this for my Dad for Christmas but started reading it when it arrived & it's very clever & a brilliant idea for a book. Basicallly the author examines whether any of the old proverbs that we use everyday are true psychologicallly speaking. So for instance: is beauty in the eye of the beholder? Do first impressions count? Do birds of a feather flock together? Will flattery get you everywhere? There are 60 plus such proverbs answered & each chapter is a delight. Reallly interesting & makes you smile & think at the same time. I find this quite rare in books nowadays. I'm buying a copy for alll my relatives now this christmas - christmas presents sorted- it's not too academic but not too simply writen either. Highly recommended.
