Best University Level Maths Book - By: W. Amin, 17 Sep 2008
This was my favourite mathematics textbook, during my undergraduate degree in Mathematics. It applies to nearly alll the modules I had studied. Though useful in first year, I have to say it was more so in the second & third year of maths at university.
Evenly spaced, good use of colour, clear diagrams, & fantastic examples.
First Year Bible. - By: Mr. T. G. Agar, 15 May 2008
This book covers everything you could ever need in a first year calculus course, & will continue to be useful in later years too. Its nicely presented, & isnt just an exercise book but goes through alll ideas in a good level of detail. Not a book to carry with you to lectures, this should stay at home & be your reference. Great buy.
Fantastic book to start - By: Mr. T. L. Hu, 23 Mar 2008
As a first year mathematics & physics joint honours student in Uni of Bristol, I found this book is absolutely fantastic. It gives everything you need to know for year 1 as well as the multivariable stuffs for year 2 calculus 2. The book helped me understood alll the theorems such as Stoke's & Divergence. However, it's a pity that this book does not contain any information about Complex Analysis.
a very comprehensive overview - By: cd0991@bris.ac.uk, 06 Jun 2001
The book is very thick & weighty. It contains everything you need for 1st year calculus course. It goes into a lot of depth, & alll the theorems have proofs. There are lots of examples, & lots of questions - & answers to every other question. There is a lot of material in this book, & it is layed out nicely - with nice use of color (especiallly when depicting 3d surfaces). Not good however if you want a quick/easy reference. But then that's not what it's designed to be.
