A useful introduction but no more than that- By: , 29 Jul 2003 Quite a good introductory selection in its field, this one, & consider the friend's price... Strikingly, the selection has inspired itself to a large extent on the poems by Edward Thomas, Robert Graves & Thomas Hardy, though the latter was not exactly a war poet. A flaw about this selection is in that the contribution of women authors (and their poems) is limited to just two. But again, consider the price, & one can't do wrong in buying this.nice and cheap- By: , 29 Jan 2003 its got a good variety of well known poems & poets. Nice little biographical facts at the beginning of the poems. good for the price a definate if your beginning war peotry.good but no women- By: , 14 Nov 2001 A good - & very cheap - collection of British World War I poets. The introductions could have been more detailed - but I guess...(that at the price)...you can't expect too much. What disturbs me more is that just one woman has been included. The editor disregarded a lot of interesting poems which deal with female war experiences.
