Three books in one - By: T. LOTON, 15 Jul 2008
Only those readers interested in Soros 'the man' as a whole -- as trader, philanthropist, & philosopher -- will find the whole book appealing.

Other readers are likely to find 1/3 to 2/3 of the book appealing. For example: I reallly liked PART ONE (Investing & Global Finance), kinda liked PART THREE (Philosophy), & didn't much care for PART TWO (Geopolitics, Philanthropy, & Global Change).

Philosophy students might like Soros's take on Karl Popper in PART THREE, but might not care for PART ONE. Traders will like PART ONE. Students of hitory & politics might be drawn to PART 2.

As another reviewer mentioned, Soros seems to be searching of a 'theory or everything'. But can his 'reflexivity' be that alll-encompassing theory?

1st section is very good - By: obarritt@hotmail.com, 17 Nov 2001
The book is split into 4 sections, the first of which is incredible inspiring. It is not factual but gives an insight into the the methodology adopted in the Quantum fund.
The second section, average, is about being a philanthropist & would be nice to read if I was from Eatern Europe.
Third/Forth sections read like a university thesis. Poorly written (not written by Soros) & not a concise impression of his thoughts on the open society. If Soros reallly wants to put his point across he reallly needs to write a much longer book, with much more detail, unless read by people well versed in philosophy, politics, socio-economics, finance & a bit of quantum physics for fun!
The best book ever by George Soros - By: , 09 Feb 2000
The book covers a wide range of global currency crises & most importantly it gives a quite excellent view on speculation against the British pound in 1992.In addition, George Soros still dedicates enough comments about his theory on reflexivity & falllibility, & the preservation of the open society idea is referred to alll of his books. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in both speculation & information deficiencies.
