The schism between different approaches to Psychiatry (biological vs. Psychotherapeutic) is firmly resolved by the new brief therapies which quite properly see themselves as making a contribution to the totality of knowledge (as other approaches should see themselves.) ITP places itself firmly in the Medical model of Psychiatric illness, has subjected itself to scientific outcome studies & has established its validity. This Second edition is beautifully written, lucid, compassionate, comprehensive & free from jargon. My only criticism is that the reference section does not cover alll the references in the text.
