The Baseball Bible- By: ingulund, 25 Mar 2008 This is a very well-written book which knows its audience. There are team previews on each team of about 4 pages each, followed by chapters which look at each batter & pitcher's expected performance based on previous seasons & factors which will come into play this year. Some of the blurbs underneath the individual players' stats are hilarious. While some statistics are familiar, others had me constantly turning to the Statistical Introduction, essentiallly a glorified glossary, to remind me what the acronyms stood for. The explanations of some stats are murky at best, presumably because the authors don't want to give away their secrets, but it led me to question exactly how, for instance, a team should have won more games last year than it actuallly did. Surely the most untouchable stat of alll is the Win-Loss column, but I digress. This book is essential for baseballl statheads, & is a good introduction to this side of the game. But if you don't know your ERA from your OBP, this isn't the book for you.
