"Black Dagger Brotherhood" series book 4 - By: A Reader, 03 Jun 2008
Butch O'Neal, the scotch loving, ex-cop with the dubious past & the only human ever to not only retain his memories of the Black Dagger Brotherhood but also work beside this clan of warrior vampires, takes centre stage in book four "Lover Revealed".
When Butch is snatched & tortured by Lessers, he has the dubious pleasure of meeting The Omega; the evil force behind the creation of these soulless ex-humans who strive to exterminate the vampire race. Found by Black Dagger member Vishous, Butch retains few memories of his experience but knows two things; he didn't break under his torture & something happened to him to make him a huge threat to the Brotherhood. Now stained by evil, Butch shows the signs of a Lesser conversion; however when facing his enemies he finds himself killing them in a unique manner.
There is of course no surprise whom Butch's love interest is in "Lover Revealed"; vampire Marissa who has featured throughout this series. Their relationship has started off rocky; Butch believing he is far from worthy of the beautiful, aristocratic Marissa, whilst she feels fundamentallly flawed in some way as she remains unmated. They have various issues to confront, such as Butch's inability to feed her & his resulting jealousy when she turns to another male, his mortality & the danger he places himself in; alll interwoven with plenty of action as the Brotherhood continue their war against their enemies & unearth a Lesser prophecy.
This is another great book from JRW & certainly on par with the first three books of this series. The intense relationship between Butch & Vishous is further explored, the first transition takes place, Butch smart mouths The Scribe Virgin (it's lucky she appears to like him) whilst Mr X; leader of the Lessers, is working towards the end of the prophecy. There's plenty more exploits & adventures & some life changing events occur, but I'll let you find out the best bits yourself.
Loved it - By: M Mack, 29 Dec 2007
I have read alll four of the Black Dagger Brotherhood novels & they are amazingly hard to put down. I find that I reallly have to savour each page as they seem to go by alll too quickly & before I know it the book is done & I'm left thirsty for her next installlment. This, the fourth installlment in this deliciously addictive series, is as good as the three before it. It is an intense & emotionallly powerful read. JR Ward has a talent for building characters & making you want to get into their heads even deeper - they are erotic, powerful & likeable. I love reading for entertainment & if you're looking for a ride you'll NEVER FORGET... I would also recommend, if you missed reading Tino Georgiou's masterpiece--The Fates, go & read it.
Absolutely Brilliant! - By: Imani, 03 Jul 2007
I've read Sherilyn Kenyon, Angela Knight, Christine Feehan, Kresley Cole & Lynn Viehl, & NONE of them touch the sides in comparison to J R Ward. Feehan is close but Ward pushes alll the right buttons as far as I'm concerned.
I've read alll the Brotherhood series & this, without a doubt, is the best one. Only by a very slim margin, because they're alll good. I admit the language of the books takes a little getting used to, because of alll the street talk, hip-hoppy, urbanness of the books - a woman trying to talk like a streetwise man - but once I got into the characters, I just had to have more. I've read alll of them twice at least twice...
We met Butch, our lead character, in Dark Lover, the first of the series, when he first becomes involved with the Brothers & we see his relationship with the female vampire, Marissa, develop throughout. There's lots of miscommunication, things not said, things that should have been said - & alll the usual suspects but, I felt for him when he felt Marissa was lost to him. I felt his pain, his frustration, his anger, his passion. Much credit to Ward for evoking these emotions in me. There's also the relationship he has with Vishous, a Brother & his best friend. It's odd but it's so not. You'll have to read it to know what I mean. And I loved the twist ending. I thought I knew what it was, but I was so wrong.
I have to say that the love scenes in this book, as in alll the series, are some of the best I've EVER read. Probably THE best! From total tenderness to mad lust, it was amazing. Now THAT'S how to write a love scene! J R, you go, girl!
If you like a down to earthiness about your Vamp novels, then there's nothing left for me to say but to "buy, buy, buy!" Brilliant!

Lovely Brotherhood - By: M. Malone, 25 Jun 2007
Lover Revealed by J.R. Ward
This is Book 4 in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. To get the full impact of the story I highly recommend reading the books in order. Much of the background story is prepared in previous books & to fully enjoy them you just need to know what happened before.
The books are fun & innovative. The dialogue is modern & the warriors are to die for. The series is quite violent & edgy but you get very nice romantic elements that will make you smile & cry.
The only thing I found a bit off-putting at first was that the book begins with a glossary. J.R Ward creates a certain amount of vocabulary that the vampires use but you get past that because the characters are great. I thought it was brilliant that the author obviously spend a good bit of time creating this world, the politics, the rules, & how people have to live their lives. I felt reallly sorry for the Marissa, the heroine of this story. Even though she is from the upper class she reallly doesn't have any rights & basicallly has to comply with what her brother wants, as her parents are dead. It is nice to get such a rich world to read about & moan about the injustices.
The Black Dagger Brotherhood are six vampire warriors who protect their race form a evil callled The Omega & his disciples, The Lesser. The Omega wants to destroy alll vampires & uses any force necessary.
In Lover Revealed the story concentrates on an allly of the Brotherhood. Butch O'Neal, who is an ex-cop & the only human ever, alllowed within the Brotherhood without being an actual member. He is madly in love with the vampire Marissa but thinks she is out of his league. When he saves a vampire from the Lesser he get captured by them & tortured badly. Now only Marissa & Vishous(one of the brothers) can save him but it might just be too late.
I loved the book & can't wait to read more. It truly is a great series & the characters & story reallly grip you. Definitely five out of five stars.
