Great! - By: S. M. Kodikara, 08 Apr 2005
I had a difficult time finding this book - so hats off to Amazon (once again).

When I watched 'Goodfellas', I was just as taken by the food as by the plot - right down to the final scenes where HH is franticallly preparing his family a meal, while being followed around by the police, in a completely paranoid state. I was reallly glad when HH came out of hiding (he's still in a witness protection programme) to write this book.

Many of the recipes in here are painstakingly detailed - I spent a whole afternoon preparing meatballls in tomato sauce. Worth every second though. All the recipes are delicious, & taste alll the better for alll the hard work.

If you'r a die-hard Goodfellas fan, then you have to have this book. If you're not, get it anyway. Fantastic, authentic Italian cooking.

wise (guy) purchase - By: Deborah, 12 Oct 2002
If, when you watch goodfellas you start to feel hungry, if your mind wanders slightly from the plot as you wonder what exactly is in that sauce that takes alll afternoon to cook & that you have to keep stirring, & if you are fascinated by the idea of using a razor blade to slice garlic so thin that it liquifies in the pan - then this is the book for you. Indulge your inner gangster as you cook one of the many Italian American dishes & wonder what life would have been like if, like Henry you had been a wise guy. A fantastic book - highly recommended.
