The Queen of Crime Sails Again..... - By: Ryan Judd, 20 May 2002
I'm something of a fan, an addict is perhaps a better description, of these books. Over the years the MSW series has gone from strength to strength as the author Donald Bain has become more familiar with the characters (recurring & otherwise), re-developing them again outside the bounds of the TV series. Jessica herself has been re-moulded to fit this new audience, which demand more from a TV Sleuth-turned-novelist than just a beginning, middle & end. There's even the continuing sniff of a possible romance for Jessica, with her good friend Scotland Yard detective George Sutherland.

'Murder on the QE2' has got to be one of the finest so far. The plot revolves around Jessica's crossing, where she's been asked to guest lecture on the art of mystery writing & to script a play to be performed on each of the 4 nights of the cruise.

While on board however, one of the other lecturers - a famed Hollywood actress - is found dead in a lifeboat & then another mysteriously disappears in the dead of night.... is someone sinister 'offing the ships celebrirty speakers? Is Jessica herself in mortal danager?

Its up to good ol' Mrs Fletcher to delve in to the investigation & unmask the killer, by way of a cleverly devised, one-act, play in which actors play the roles of real-life passengers.

The story twists & turns & never fails to engage, until you feel fully engulfed in the plot. This surely is a masterpiece, set in one of the most unusual yet interesting places possible -the mid-Atlantic!

If you are new to the MSWseries, this is a fantastic start, but if - like me - you're an old fan of Jessica & friends, then set back, relax & enjoy a triffic ride of thrills, spills & just the occasional red-herring!!

Topmarks!

Maritime mystery with the legendary Jessica Fletcher majesty - By: , 16 Mar 2001
Jessica hasn't been on the QE2 " Crossing " since she lost her husband. The voyage/crossing as she likes to calll it, is filled with red-herrings thrown at Jessica as she investigates the murder of legendary actor, Marla Tralaine. Her suspects include Media Tycoons & elegant business people. The voyag soon becomes a voyage towards death, as yet another murder occurs. I bought this book in the US, I read it in 7 hours flat on the return flight home, if you just read one book, make sure it's this one!
