Cycle of the Werewolf - By: dogbarkssome, 29 Dec 2006
This isn't a full length novel, but a short novella illustrated with a number of black & white & full colour pictures by Berni Wrightson. Storywise this tale of a werewolf stalking an isolated Maine town is pretty bog standard stuff, with no real new ideas or spins on the werewolf myth, though as ever King's style makes this eminently readable & the illustrations are pleasant. Nice, but nothing outstanding.
Just plain odd - By: Sarah Kay, 10 Aug 2006
This book is not at alll what you expect from a novel. It is very short (could be read in a couple of hours or less), & the story is very simple. It feels like a children's book, albeit a very gory one. For alll that, however, it is a strangely satisfying little book, with nice illustrations, & a King fan would enjoy owning it.
Good story...though spoiled by the drawings - By: Lord Sephart, 29 Apr 2006
I am a HUGE Stephen King fan, though I still have not read alll of his books. I got this collector's edition & started reading it right away. I think it is a good story for King-begginers: the book is short, not boring, & creates a fearful environment from the 1st page to the last. I truly loved the book for its simplicity & great gore. For those who find this tale TOO simple or TOO predictable, I think you must think of the year this was written: 1984. Good horror stories were like this, without the stupid effects nor the idiot plots we see today...I think this book reflects its time, & is a mark of good horror. Read it & you'll see what I mean.
It doesn't get the 5 stars because I think the drawings spoil a very important part of the tale...I knew it before I read it(sigh...). DO NOT look at them before reading.
Anyway, it may not be his best book, but still an AWESOME read. Try it.
King collectors delight - By: Mr. S. D. Downs, 06 Jan 2006
I'm a huge Stephen King fan, I have everything & this just completes the collection. It's not the best story he has ever written but it is good & so nicely presented. I can't imagine anybody but an avid Stephen King collector reallly apreciating this so I wouldn't recomend you buy it for a friend who has just read a few king books, but if you know someone who thinks they have everything he has written, there is a pretty good chance they don't have this. Incidently there is a filmed based on this book too.
An unusual yet scary book from King - By: roman_hochuli@hotmail.com, 20 Feb 2001
This is a GREAT book. This book is for alll Stephen King fans, it is the usual werewolf that you always see in the movies but the way King describes it that you feel as if you're watching this werewolf just brutallly kill someone right there in Tarker's Mills. I am on the third book he has written & the first 2 have been great, I hope this one is even better. The illustrator did a great job. His pictures were so realistic, it was like he had seen someone being killed like that.
