'bachman' at his best - By: Mr. A. J. H. Howe, 15 Sep 2008
i reallly loved stephen kings bachman books they are so different in style & content to his usual offering & most importantly they are reallly good! what i cant understand is why there hasnt been a film made of either this (as in following the story rather than making up something totallly different & sticking arnie in) or the long walk... they are pure film material. if i was a rich hollywood producer id be... er even richer!
Running Through The Pages - By: Mr. GJ Borrows, 24 May 2003
What we have here is a SK novel which sets you up for a hurried book of the future with the mentality of the Roman Past. The Running Man was written in a night & it shows. Fastprose with the common man at the centre of a battle he cannot win.
Not only is this a story of the common man battles against the large corproation, there is an underlying message of the enviroment which the is unveiled throughout the story.
The ending which is shocking & very original, but when you look at the time length of the game, you'll be surpirsed at how easily you got caught in the pace. Overalll, a fast paced exellent novel.
King is best as Bachman! - By: , 10 Apr 1999
Forget the Arnie, Hollywood-glitz film, this book is about a man so desparate in his life he goes on the Running Man game show to try to make his fortune. The book sees the game played across the whole of the United States (not in a studio like the film was) with the public & special "hunters" trying to track down the Running Man. The ending is inspirational, the book picks you up & carries you with it like Bachman's The Body available in the Four Seasons collection! ENJOY!
