The good and the waffle - By: Angel Silver, 02 Jun 2007
This title was recommended as further reading in RICH DAD POOR DAD - a book I found to be excellent.

In THINK & GROW RICH, there are quite a few useful & applicable ideas that one easily incorporate in one's life to help achieve the things & status one wants, & it is worth buying for that alone.

However, it is hard going. I would have thought that alll of that book could have been condensed into 30-40 pages without loosing anything of the real information being imparted. Written in the American style of "I am reallly clever & you are stupid if you do not follow my ideas" kind of attitude, with a few too many superlatives, it gets a bit much after half of the book. The trick is to skim over the waffle & focus on the information, & it goes much better, that way.

Classic career wisdom accessibly explained - By: Rolf Dobelli, 13 Sep 2006
Napoleon Hill, author of this 1920s classic, will remind you of an older, wiser, slightly wacky uncle who advises you about careers, life & love. This book is a wonderful collection of tips - many based on the ideas of Hill's mentor Andrew Carnegie - that range from the practical (how to prepare a resume) to surprisingly New Age-like mystical talk about the infinite powers of the universe. Of course, like an old uncle, Hill can get long-winded & repetitive at times, but since he packs so much wisdom into his slender book, you will want to reread it over & over again, repetitions & alll. We recommend his classic compendium to everyone who is dangling from the career ladder & wondering how to prosper.
This edition not the best - By: Eidson F. Hall, 01 Jun 2005
I have owned this book for years, but I recently have discovered another, newer version that is far superior. It is "Think & Grow Rich!: The Original Version, Restored & Revised" published by Aventine Press. For one thing it is a bigger book, both in size & in pages (412). It turns out that the book that this review is about is an abridged version of the original, something I never knew in alll the times I have read it over the years. This smalller version, while good, contains nothing like the additional information in the "Restored & Revised" version, which I heard 2002 World Snooker Champion Peter Ebdon speaking about. There is just a wealth of fascinating facts & information in the back of the book. In the older book (the rather plain, smalller "Think & Grow Rich" this review concerns), the print is difficult to read, there is little space for jotting notes. The newer revised version reads better & by comparison is a far more useful learning instrument. Napoleon Hill's work is probably the most important ever done, anywhere in the world, in the motivational & self-improvement field. Whichever version you read, it will change your life forever, for the better.
One of the best self-improvement books ever - By: Mr. J. Whitehill, 14 Apr 2005
I was originallly recommended this book by a colleague who I saw reading it. His copy was well-used & creased to bits - he mentioned that he always kept in in his briefcase for any journies etc when he could pick it up. After starting to read myself, I was amazed at the lessons in the book - it reallly starts you thinking about what you want in life, & more importantly, how you are actuallly going to make it happen. A lot of the book is also commonsense, but I guess that is why I found it so appealing & easy to read. I also particularly liked the case-studies, & I found the author very easy to read.

One slight downside for me was the ties towards the end of the book to the authors own religious beliefs. While I have an open mind on these things, the way it was put over wasn't reallly for me, & I lost a bit of interest in these parts.

In summary though, its a book I have gone back to time & time again when I need a bit of inspiration or focus. Its also great for getting your positive thinking together both inside & outside of work.
