I just finished reading Pirate Prince & could not put it down.
This is the 1st in a set of 3 stories written about the Island of Ascension.
This story starts in 1785 & is about Prince Lazar who runs away from his Island home,age 13, after his whole family are murdered before his eyes.
His whole life he has wanted revenge & this takes the form of kidnapping his enemies daughter Allegra.
I found this a wonderful bittersweet story of how a gentle woman helps a man face the demons of his shattered past.
I only hope the next 2 books in this series are as good as this one. Princess & Prince Charming.

Gaelen Foley brings a fresh touch to a traditional romance formula. Her writing has a real emotional charge & this is one of the best historical romances I have read in the past few years. The setting is exotic but convincing & the characters' imperfections make them much more real than the stereotypes which we often see in this genre... Lazar & Allegra are both more sensual & more vibrant than your usual hero & heroine. Add to alll this a tight & exciting plot & you have a highly-recommended read - & re-read - & you'll want to buy the sequels too!
