Awful book! - By: R. Kerfoot, 30 Jul 2008
This is one of a series of books on behaviour. The books alll concentrate on negative behaviour & give 'solutions'.

The solutions are ... er... odd & concentrate on finding the child an inanimate object to assault rather than an actual person. Such as "No pushing in line! What can you push? A swing!" This seems to suggest that poor behavour is caused by a basic desire to hit/bite/push/spit rather than attention seeking. In fairness the solutions in this book are not as ludicrous as in 'No Hitting'.

By putting the emphasis on the negative behaviour, this book can put ideas in your child's head. My two year old hadn't even considered spitting at his brother, or kicking a dog, until this book suggested it!

A much better book on positive behaviour is You Are Friendly by Todd Snow & Melodee Strong.
Completely bonkers advice - By: Juliette, 10 Jul 2008
I was given three books by this author to help me during a period when I looked after a child with behaviour problems. Not serious, but had driven the parents to the end of their tether.

I have to say that the advice in this book is misguided at best, dangerous at worse. I can't believe this got published as it does not help change behaviour but rewards bad behaviour. There is a whole lot in this series - no biting, no kicking, no hitting, etc but they are the same book with a different problem in the title, as a ruse to sell more books. They absolutely are not good parenting or carer advice.

A nuch better book is "The Good the Bad & the Irritating" by Dr Nigel Mellor which gives excellent advice & reallly helps modify bad behaviour & defuse situations before they escalate.
