Some pretty nasty meals coming up... - By: Nolf Nicolas, 29 Jun 2007
I was enthusiastic about the book... until the evening of day 1. You'll get so fed up with eating the same food 6 times a day ! You'll end up being hungry alll the time as your stomach learns to process food faster & faster. The food tastes extremely bland, you go to the bathroom about 12 tims per day, & some of the recipes produce very nasty results... such as the meringue for example, absolutely awful... & the alternative to the meringue is eating 4 scrambled egg whites for breakfast, with no salt, ketchup, nothing but the cooked egg white which is reallly disgusting.
Eating very bland food & basic veggies may sound exciting to Americans who are used to eating food with lots of additives of alll kinds... but to a Frenchman, there's nothing wonderful to it.
I would recomend a good old Weight Watchers diet instead. At least you can keep eating normallly, with 3 meals & a snack per day.
This really Works!!!! - By: Ms. J. Kemp, 22 May 2007
I cant praise this book enough... I think Michael Thurmond is a genius... I have followed this diet for 6 days now & have lost 11 lb... It is amazing... I have followed it religiously, & am so pleased.. I am going to carry the concept on now, which will lead me to my goal... It is truely unbelievable..
The only down side is it does take lots of preparing, & getting ready, but I tend to get alll my meals for the following day ready the previous evening...works well for me..
As long as you follow the diet & exercise its brilliant!!! well worth the money..
If you want to lose weight, get this book! - By: Shadders, 10 Apr 2007
I've tried several diets but always give up as I feel hungry alll the time. I managed to lose half a stone in a week with this book & I'm carrying on with the concept & am continuing towards my goal weight. I've recommended this to alll my friends & family.
The only thing I would say is that this book is no good if you lead a very busy lifestyle as there is plenty of cooking (and of course eating - 6 times a day!) as well as exercising (an hour a day is recommended & is what I was doing). However it shouldnt be an excuse as I work full time 6 days a week, look after 3 horses & 5 cats as well as having alll my house work/DIY/shopping & alll the other stuff you have to do on a daily basis & I still managed to fit the exercise in & I'm so glad I did!
I can honestly recommend this, it's not a faddy diet that will leave you starving & with no energy. My energy levels are up, I'm eating plenty & I'm looking better than I have done in years. If only this was common knowledge a lot of people would be much happier with themselves & healthier too I imagine!
What now? - By: S. E. Jenkins, 02 Feb 2007
Having seen Michael Thurmond on 'extreme makeover' I decided to give this book a go & followed the eating plan for my body type. Fantastic! It reallly does work- but what now? The book recommends I only follow the eating plans for 6 - 10 days maximum to boost my metabolism & give my weight lose a kick start. But where do I go from here? The book recommends trying the '6 week body makeover' but it's not available in the UK. The final chapter in the book does suggest a few additions that can now be made to my eating plan but nothing reallly useful for long term weight lose. This book is great if you only reallly want to lose a few pounds quickly.
Achieving real results !! - By: C. Simon, 20 Feb 2006
This is the third time that I have used Michael, he is especiallly good to use if you have that alll important do & an alll important outfit to slink into. I have been on a exercise & nutrition regime since the beginning of the year & wanted to slot this 6 day program into my schedule, using the full principles outlined in Michael's books that I didn't 100% follow on the previous 2 occasions.
You do a 10 minute questionaire to establish what type of body shape you are, there are 5 types in the book, you will be either an A, B, C, D or E body type. From there you follow the plan for that body type, it lists what meats you can have an in what quantity, what fruit & veg you can have & also what type of carbohydrates are best suited to your body shape.
Using the book on this occasions I made sure that I marinated the meat & fish the night before so that they were succulent & ready to be cooked the following day, Michael even gives you some marinade recipes to use, but you can feel free to come up with your own versions using spices, herbs, lemon or lime juice even a splash of Balsamic Vinegar. But absolutely no fat can be used when cooking, so steeping, broiling, baking, poaching, steaming & dry frying are your very adequate alternative.
I then also used his recommended exercise plan by using my Strider that has been very handy for drying clothing over the years but I haven't actuallly physicallly been using it. You then exercise at 50 - 65% of your maximum heart rate, (Michael explains how this can be calculated), for 20,30,45 or 60 minutes depending on your fitness level. You need to check at regular intervals to ensure you are working hard enough & determine if you need to slow down or speed up. I decided to invest in a heart rate monitor watch which I will continue to use. I entered alll my details in so I hear an audible beep if my heart rate is too low or too high.
After 6 days I am 6 & a half pounds lighter & feel esctatic about it. Michael says you could lose up to 10 pounds. I am happy with my results as it has given me a great jump start, I will continue on now to the next phase of my healthy regime.
