Depends what you're looking for - By: Curly Sue, 19 Oct 2007
I didn't find this book very helpful. There are a few tips but nothing particularly inspiring. Although the book says it covers social as well as business situations, it is very focussed on business which is not what I was looking for. If you want help with speaking to people at business functions you might get some use out of it but be warned, it is VERY American in style & some of the sample conversations are just laughable.
One of the worst books ever written - By: J. Winsoar, 19 Apr 2003
I am not a fan of made-up words or pop psychology. This book is truely one of the most diabolical self-help books ever written. Do yourself a favour & dont buy this book. It was totallly useless.
I haven't read a book this good in a long time. - By: , 19 Jan 1999
As someone with a degree in Psychology & a professional salesperson, I feel the book was well done. I enjoyed the stories that were used to drive the theories & points home. I read this book in 2 days & I am now reading it again to ensure that the principles are planted deep within my mind. This book has made a profound effect on the way I view communication. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve their communication skills. After reading this book, I have noticed that the reallly successful people at work use these principles.
A confidence booster!!! - By: , 15 Dec 1997
This book covers the most basic elements of successful conversing; for example, what EXACTLY to do when walking into a room full of people. Offers good questions, comments, etc. to use when in various situations. And presents ideas on how to make others good conver"sensational"ists. I have yet to practice these skills (and there are quite alot outlined), but, am I excited about trying them out! Also, includes a chapter on "net-iquette".
Susan really knows what she's talking about. - By: , 27 Sep 1997
I am basicallly shy. She's shown me that I can live with it & work through it. I got some techinques to break into conversation at social & work gatherings.
