This book demonstrates a love that cant be lost or overcome by death. It continues. Katia's strength & courage & spirit should be an inspriration to anyone facing troubles. What an inspiration! - By: , 22 Mar 1999
I am mid-way through the book & already my tears have started fallling. I grew up hating alll the Russian skaters because they always beat our Americans. I always thought that Godeava & Grinkov were good- but I still held a grudge. When I heard the news that he had died- I felt a lot of guilt for ever disliking them. Through this book I realize how much they went through growing up in Moscow, how hard they trained for competitions & how hard it is for Katia to now skate without her Sergei. This book is truly inspirational & I wish Katia & Daria alll the best in life!
a wonderful, touching book - By: , 16 Feb 1999
"My Sergei" is by far the best book I've ever read. It talks about the death of Sergei, but it reallly focuses on the good parts of his life & what a great person he was. It also talks about how their daughter, Daria is a constant, yet very much welcomed reminder of Sergei. Read this book! You'll love it. I've read it probably 5 times & I love it more & more each time I read it.
A heartfelt, stirring portrait of love, triumph and trajedy - By: , 20 Jan 1998
Ekaterina Gordeeva paints a touching picture of her brief but enchanting time with husband & skating partner Sergei Grinkov. She weaves the magicallly true tale of her life starting with her chidhoood, & continuing past the point of "Her Sergei's" tragic death, revealing along the way her dreams for their future, dreams that died with Sergei, & dreams that with his spirit, she will continue to strive for.
