Original story - Cliched ending - By: JC, 29 May 2008
Gripping book but let down by a reallly poor ending - it was such a cop out. It was as though the author had completely run out of ideas & couldn't think of an ending. Very disappointing...

Kevin Brooks has done it again with this incredible story of a boy who is different to everyone else, as far as they are aware. This captivating novel, written in the smooth yet gripping way that has distinguished Brooks as one of Britain's top authors keeps you hooked until the last sentence in this unusual page-turner. This is an absolute must read for any one!
You may have wondered why I have only given this book four stars if it was such an amazing read. It's difficult to explain fully without giving much away but I can say that the questions Brooks frequently poses to the reader, the ones that reallly make you think, could have done with being answered a lot better than they were. I think that it is crucial to have a good ending in a book yet sadly, I was dissatisfied with the ending of this one because I don't think that it reallly ended anything.
Fantastic, perfect buy for your teenager!! - By: Ms. Dawn S. PLAYFORD, 27 Mar 2007
I bought this for my son after hearing an interview with Kevin Brooks on Oneword. The book arrived this morning, & having nothing better to do I started to read it. I honestly could not put it down. Brooks is not a heavy, serious writer, but his use of language is captivating, I've purchased a couple of his other books for my son & will no doubt be reading them as well.
I highly recommend this as a teenage read, especiallly, if like me you are searching for a diversion from computer games & the telly.
Some parents may prefer their child to be reading more solid material, but I think that the important bit is to get your child to enjoy reading for it's benefits. I have no doubt that my son will enjoy this book & will eventuallly be borrowing my copy of War & Peace. But one step at a time.
Buy this for your child, you will not regret it!!!!!!!!!!
More than just a good read! - By: sara1234, 17 Mar 2007
The first Kevin Brooks book i read was Lucas. My friend gave me the copy to read & said it was good. So i thought, might as well. Two & a half days later i had finished. It was an amazing book.
So a few days ago i noticed his new book on sale & got myself a copy. Well, he's done it again, & this one's even better. It made me think, made me question things "What is it to be human?, What makes you human?" This book is so alive with adventure, emotion & you will not want to put it down. I couldn't. Sometimes it chilled to the bone, sometimes it made me squirm, & other times i just smiled.
It's so different from the usual teen book, yet something about it is familuar. You see Robert grow up, live & somehow you can relate to him. I think it would make an amazing drama or film.
What's even better is you can join the debate online once you've finished, which you'll want to do.
Read this if your a fan of Kevin Brooks or not. It has become my favourite book!
