I was given this book, before starting my NC child care & early education, i then used if for both my level 2 & 3 SVQ modern aprrentice, & found this much easier to use than books supplied on the course's. I say this book is a must have for anyone studying or wishing to study childcare.

Walmsley, 27 Jun 2006 This book is reallly reallly helpful, I am currently working my way through my NVQ3 & ordered this book in the hope that it would provide more information than what is given in the child care & development book when breaking down the ages & stages of child development, especiallly in the cognitive & language development sections, which are covered in less detail in the other child care book. The way it is set out is clear & concise & also provides activity ideas too.

It is written in clear & is very easy to understand. I have found it invaluable whilst attending my cache diploma course. I have even used it to assess my own children. This book focuses on alll child development upto the age of 16.
A Must have - By: L. Beeson, 03 Apr 2006 I'm currently in my 2nd year of the CACHE Diploma & this book is an absolute necessity. It features sections on alll ages upto 16 years & a section on child development theory.
It is ideal for observations & assignments & is a must have for any student/practitioner.
Hopefully, it will come in handy for when I start University in September.
Brilliant for Child care practitioners and all. - By: , 16 Jun 2004 This book was a core book to use as part of my Cache diploma level three in childcare & education course at college 2 years ago. (I don't know what i would have done without it...)
The book contains sections regarding child development starting from birth to 8 years. I found this book reallly easy to use, furthermore, the language used in the book is also easy for us to understand & relate to.
I was particuarly impressed with the recommended actvities section for each age group situated within the book. Also there is a section on meeting the needs of alll children including children with special educational needs which i thought was a good idea to include as i have a family member who has SEN & i also work with children with SEN too. This alllowed me the opportunity to use some of the recommended actvities & helped me in the assistance of my assignments which are part of the course.
I am currently studying early childhood studies at university & i can reflect & refer to this book when needing information. I have told other students about this book & they are buying it.
