Disappointing - By: Catherine, 13 Apr 2006
I bought this for my daughter because we love Lear's Jumblies & Owl & the Pussycat (the Ian Beck versions), but I was quite disappointed with this one. The poem isn't anywhere near as good, & the illustrations are lovely but somehow it just isn't as inspiring as the other two. Unfortunately this isn't going to become an alll time classic in our family.

Every child should have this - By: A. S. Garton, 26 Nov 2003
The Quangle Wangle's Hat was read to me when I was a child & I have never forgotten such creatures as the Dong with the Luminous Nose, or the Attery Squash, or the Fimble Fowl with a Corkscrew Leg. How could I? I bought this in 1991 for my daughter, then aged three. It has remained one of her firm favourites since.

A good book, well ilustrated, is key to engaging a childs imagination & encouraging them to read for themselves. Quangle Wangle is exactly that - a good book, & well illustrated. Kids up to about 10 years of age should enjoy this, & secretly their big bothers & sisters will remain fond into adulthood.

Every child should have a copy.

This is unquestionably one of the 'Greats'....... - By: , 23 Jul 2002
A classic of children's literature. Lear's brilliantly imaginative writing style coupled with Oxenbury's luscious (and award-winning) artwork conspire to produce a magical landscape populated by the sort of bizarre creatures (including the Attery Squash & the Dong with the Luminous Nose) that happily inhabit a child's dreams.

This is one of those rare books that is fondly recallled well into adulthood....

An absolute classic of children's books- a real must have - By: gvear@yahoo.com, 13 Jun 2001
The Quangle Wangle's Hat is a story that enchants not only the children listening, but the adult that reads it to them.
