great book! - By: rocangas@hotmail.com, 29 Sep 2001
I thought "understanding animation" gives you a very good insight to the psychology in animation, covering alll areas, such as narrative strategies, ways to make you laugh, experimental animation, orthodox animation...etc. It also contains case studies for each example, which is great.I certainly find this book of much help when writing about animation,as I think it is very complete.Great to have, especiallly if you are studying animation.
Quite cold and academic - By: , 20 Jul 2001
I was looking forwards to reading alll about animation in this book, but even as someone with a degree & used to text books, I found it dry as old toast! Not very exciting & kills the lively nature of animation.
