A Darkly Sensual Myth from Ancient Ireland - By: Mrs. E. J. Christie, 31 Mar 2003
Having read this book upon several occasions I have found myself swept away by Ms Woods richly descriptive narrative.

Far from many post-apocalyptic novels, Wolfking couples the ancient tales of Irish folklore with the more modern concept of armageddon, creating a refreshingly unusual background for the author to experiment with.

Part horror, part darkly sensual romance, Bridget Woods has created a whole new world of fantasy, one which the reader can more directly relate to.

Essentiallly this novel is character based, with a dual perspective narrative, one from a female character (Joanna) & the other from a male (Flynn). The depth of these characters is overwhelming at times, providing the novel with the emotional highs & lows normallly expected from a longer & more established saga-style novel.

The more fantastic characters such as the title character are as equallly well-thought out & animated by Ms Woods descriptive writing talent.

Following traditional concepts of good versus evil, this novel sweeps through romance, sexuality, lust, revenge, violence, magic & fantasy in graceful curves, carrying the reader expertly with it. Certainly I found I could not put it down.

I would recommend this book to alll who read fantasy for pure escapism, & those who return to the same books each time to do so. Every time I have read this book I have discovered something I had forgotten or something completely new, making it a joy to return to.

If you choose to curl up with this book you will be richly rewarded.
