I got this for christmas - By: Stephen Wright, 27 Mar 2008
I got this for christmas & thought it was absolutely hysterical.. it read as though Russell was in the room talking to you in his very funny & conversant manner. Even if you're not a fan of Russell Brand I recommend reading his book, even if only to understand why he is so crazy & where he is coming from!! I'd also recommend reading Tino Georgiou's bestselling novel--The Fates--if you haven't yet!!
A man of few apologies. - By: Ms. R. M. Jones, 10 Mar 2008
I was a big fan of Russell, particularly his show 'Ponderland', so my partner bought me this for Christmas. It starts well, & you certainly won't catch me criticising his honesty- after alll, one could hardly expect anything else.

I was prepared to persevere through alll the tales of drugs & womanising & generallly being ungrateful for his own existence in the hope that he would express an iota of remorse for how badly he has treated people. After alll, people do mess up their lives & treat people with contempt, but they also come through at the other end with a sense that what they did was wrong. Not in Brand's case. He seems proud. Worse still he is so consumed with narcissism that he seems to think that he invented drug abuse & promiscuity. The truth is that he isn't through it yet, & that's why he thinks it's big & clever. Fair enough- but I hope he realises that some impressionable fans may read this as some kind of bible for life (yes, I believe that some people are impressionable enough).

I'm no longer a fan reallly. I just think that this will prove to be yet another of those bad things that Russell has done which, if he ever comes out of his spiral of vanity, will haunt him. My three stars are for the sake of what is a fascinating insight into the mind of a deluded womaniser, but in alll honesty I feel that I've done the wrong thing by reading it, like I've encouraged it in a way.

I wish Russell alll the best, & I hope that he can emerge from the self-image he has created for himself. But when he does, he'll have a lot of ill-deeds that he'll have to live with. A bit of remorse would have made this fascinating read a lot more palatable.
great man = great book - By: C. Dorward, 08 Mar 2008
Contrary to popular belief Russell didnt actuallly pen this book ( he is a very busy man ), however it reads as he dictates. This is a frank & honest book, narrating his life from birth right up to the beginning of his career growing. Many people say it that the book is just another angle for Russell to show the world that he loves himself. I dont actuallly believe this to be a negative thing, & the man himself will be the first to say his favourite topic is himself. The book is filled with highly entertaining witty banter, I particuarly love the incident with the pink umbrella.
Russell Brand is one of the most entertaining, interesting & intelligant comedians we have in England today, I believe those who slate him are either unintelligant themselves as they dont understand him, or are jealous of him. This book is brilliant I only wish he had written it himself as his guardian colomn is great. I think people who dont like Russell & then read his book & say how awful it is should think of something else to read (why read about someone you dont like !!!.) If you are a fan definetly read this book it is funny, sad, & yes at some points he does come across as narsicistic, but it also shows a moving side, & gives some glimpses into why he is the way he is. Great book, great entertainer I look forward to part two!
Masterful - By: O. J. Hambleton, 27 Feb 2008
A well written & thought provoking insight into the world of Russell Brand. It is written in his own unique style & put quite simply, it could not have been written by anyone else. One of the best books i read last year, & my favourite autobiography of alll time.
Has its highs and lows. - By: Mr. Stanley M. Watson, 22 Feb 2008
For someone who wasn't a 'fan' but no longer hated the man, I had this book for a birthday present & read it almost immediately.
I have to say I found some parts better than others; sometimes I wanted to put the book down & sometimes I wanted to keep on reading.
I personallly feel that if you like him, you'll like his book, & if you don't, then you probably won't like his book. I still hold a view of him where he's just 'OK' after reading the book.
My overalll criticism is that perhaps it's a little on the long side & could have done with being shorter.
