The story of mans best friend! - By: Mrs. W. A. Kantaris, 05 Jan 2009
Marley & Me was a beautiful read, one that caused me to shed many tears during the last pages or so, paticulary when Marley was having trouble climbing the staris. Whether you like dogs or not the book is a good read that I think anyone can enjoy. Some of Marley's antics are hilarious, yet belivable. I defintely reccomend it as it focuses on John & Jenny's (Marley's owners) personal life & not just on Marley - their loopy lab! I can sum this book up in a few easy words - heartwarming, funny, realistic & a tear jerker. I guess what makes this book even more of a tear jerker is that it is based on a true story & I think, the way John Grogan writes it, is truly something! I think that the book also gives out a very good message, which I am sure, is in the film - Quote: 'A dog doesn't care if you are rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart & he will give you his' .

I defintely recconmend this book but if young children want to read it, I advise them to read the children's version, as the adult's version deals with adult subjects e.g. miscarriages & murder etc but not in too great-a-detail! If you want to read a book that can make you laugh & cry (it starts off a bit slow but once it gets going, you won't be able to put it down!) I highly suggest that you read Marley & Me. I just hope the film will be as good as the book - 5/5.
Really did make me laugh and cry - By: Janie U, 09 Dec 2008
This is a lovely book to read. I am an owner of 2 badly behaved dogs who I reallly love, so lots of the trouble that Marley gets into seemed very familiar & I found myself laughing out loud many times - not a book to read in public.
As the book progresses & you realise that the enevitable ending is approaching, I found myself getting more upset & ending up sobbing towards the end of the book - not usuallly a reaction I have to any book, although my elder dog is now 12 & getting blind/deaf so it made me think more about him.
Beautifully written & lovely description of Marley. Any dog lover should read this book.
A great read!! - By: Rosie, 27 Nov 2008
What a great book to read.
I have never read a book that had made me laugh out loud so much but also cry as well. I loved this book & would esp recommend it for dog lovers.
BEST BOOK EVER!!!!!!! - By: Catriona Harris, 14 Nov 2008
This is the best book i've ever read. When reading this it makes you laugh at alll the bad things marley did but then the end is so so so so so sad. A great memoir for a great dog I say. Can't wait to see the film version, out here February 2009 & out in America on Christmas day 2008. It's got Owen Wilson & Jennifer Aniston in it so it's got to be as good as the book.
The best book I've read in years! - By: D. Stiff, 29 Oct 2008
Having owned a labrador myself, I fully expected to enjoy this book, but it exceeded my expectations by some considerable margin. I laughed & cried out loud. The style of writing is hilarious, & I truly believe that even a non dog lover would be entertained.
