a gem from a promising writer - By: Trinity Gal, 06 Apr 2008
having decided to read FORGET having already been pleasantly surprised by gilligan's second book SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN, i had high expectations. thankfully, it didnt disappoint.
granted the tone & the subject matter are a tad more naive & innocent than the much darker follow-up, but this does not in any way mean the book is to be dismissed. for despite the fact that gilligan apparently started writing this book at the tender age of 15, the wisdom in its lines, the accuracy of its dialogue, the craft of its imagery & the success of its structure shows a talent from which i am truly excited to hear more. it is fun, it isn't what would normallly be described as 'heavy' but it has a power in its honesty that will reallly capture you & which i feel is difficult to locate elsewhere.

No, no ... - By: Caroline, 21 Aug 2007
A weak story set in south dublin - kinda like a Ross O'carroll-Kelly for teenagers, only where he's being saracstic ruth gilligan is being deadly serious

Thisbook is reallly boring. Parts of it are unrealistic & stupid. Even though Eva's dad just died the characters only seem to worry about trivial things. Also they seem kind of cut off from the real world - going to psychatrists & boys worrying that they might be too posh. I wouldn't buy anymore of her books.
Not great - By: Tweety, 14 Aug 2007
Perhaps the author has a future in writing but this book is not brilliant. There was a huge buzz about it & I was thrilled when I got it, but I thought it was reallly overrated. Perhaps her new one will be better.
