Another great story from Robert Muchmore - By: Matt G, 10 Dec 2007
This thrilling tale is about how James Adams (a CHERUB Agent), Kyle & Lauren (James's sister) have to try to infiltrate an animal rights organisation. They are alll thrown into a world of extreme political violence. James & Kyle meet up with two brothers who want to get involved with the AFA (Animal Freedom Army). From there they find themselves in a world of political extremism meeting people that will do anything to help animals. James & Kyle hear of a massive plot that involves some sort of extreme violence. Will they go through with the plot? Will James & Kyle turn against CHERUB to save some animals? Read it & find out. This is a fast action paced thriller & well worth reading but the violence in the book makes it unsuitable for younger readers.
Man vs Beast (CHERUB) - By: Floyd O'Doyle, 26 Jul 2007
Having read alll the previous CHERUB books i wasn't sure what to expect with this book. All the previous books have been superb & i have to say, so was this. It is another fast paced novel. I read the last hundred or so pages so quickly as they keep you turning pages, scared & excited as to what would happen next.
I think this, & 'Maximum Security' are the best books i have read since Alex Rider.
Read this book but be sure to read the previuos ones - starting with 'The Recruit' - first.
Great series, but the first was the best - By: OJacks, 30 Oct 2006
The Cherub series could compete with Alex Rider to be the best young spy series - but Muchamore needs to be careful not to let the quality slip since the first, excellent book in the series 'The Recruit'. The trouble is that the 'Jimmy Coates' series by Joe Craig is at least as good, if not better, & that seems to be improving with each book so far.
So if Muchamore wants Horowitz's crown, he better make sure the Cherub series stays fresh & original, like Jimmy Coates, & not just another 'young boy on a secret service mission' series.
Having said that, this book is reallly entertaining & has alll the action & thrills you'd expect - it's just not as good as 'The Recruit', & I'm worried that teh author is running out of new ideas to keep things exciting.
Thriller - By: Hugh, 29 Oct 2006
The kind of book that you pick up to read the first chapter & are turning to the last page without reallly knowing where the time's gone. A brilliant read, but I'd buy the others first if you havent read them!
Man Vs Beast - By: Laurence Elsdon, 08 Sep 2006
The latest addition to the CHERUB series is the finest book so far, as well as being the most gripping tale it's also unquestionably Robert Muchamore's most motivating book so far in the already superb series. Three fully trained teenage spies, James, Lauren & Kyle have are sent on a mission to gather intelligence on members of an anti-animal testing extremist group.
The reason: Adults don't expect children to be spying on them.
The book contains alll the action, excitement & tense situations of the CHERUB series so far, as well as tit bits of information on vegetarianism & animal cruelty. In addition to the thrill that any teenager loves to read Man Vs Beast will truly make you think about your views of animal testing & cruelty.
With many twists & turns, thrills & nerves Man Vs beast will have you up alll night biting your nails between turning the pages.
