Good.... if you like David Pawson - By: D. A. Stephens, 29 Nov 2007
I suspect you will find 2 extremes of review here. Those who like David pawson's style will rate this book highly. Those who don't, & those who aren't Christians will hate this book. There is no middle ground.

This is written from the point of view that Jesus is the only way to God, that Christianity is more than a religion, & that the Church over the millennia has mis-sold Jesus to the world, peddling instead some half baked mumbo jumbo to try to make people feel better. As a result, other religions, & Islam in particular are now more popular than Christianity in this country. This book is an attempt to change that around. Therefore, if you can't agree with the first sentence, you won't like this book.

If you can agree with it, this book will challlenge some of your assumptions about Islam, Christianity, & what is important.
A great book - By: , 04 Feb 2004
This is a good introduction to Islam (if you don't know anything about it), contrasting it with the central concepts of Christianity.

I agree with the first reviewer, afpalmer2, that it is a book for Christians. I thought this was fairly clear from the synopsis, so I don't know what he was expecting. He is right that some of the comments are politicallly incorrect, but Pawson is trying to stay true to the Bible & his own faith, neither of which are PC! As a person who studies the Bible quite a bit, I can't say I found any of his arguments weak. Dugroberts' review is far more accurate. This book is a 'wake-up calll to Christians'.

A clear, well-written book, in harmony with the Bible, looking at the serious threat Islam poses to Western Christians: where it differs from Christianity, & in reply, what Christians need to focus on.

A book for christians... - By: Mr. A. Palmer, 27 Jan 2004
I was expecting an unbiased book presenting both religions in an equal light.

This is a book for the Christian - which they will find useful to reinforce what they already believe. The author accepts his lack of political correctness, & to a large extent disrepsect towards Islam, presenting the religion in a very negative light ignoring its huge similarities with Christianity.

The book does provide an interesting discussion which is very relevent as more people attend Mosques in the UK than do church. It is easy reading, yet I found myself (a searcher for faith) to be disgusted by many comments & able to see through many of the arguments proposed even with my mediocre knowledge of Christianity.

The book does provide a few interesting insights into Islam - but I am sure there are many books that do it better.

Courageous wake-up call to Christians. - By: M. D Roberts, 04 Jan 2004
Having studied Christianity & Islam for some time, I eagerly purchased this book with a keen sense of anticipation to read the author's own personal analysis of Islam.

Other studies which I have accessed from the source have seriously impressed me with the manner in which the Hebrew-Christian Scriptures have been dissected & analysed.

To that end I was initiallly disappointed when I discovered that the book was not in fact primarily a study of Islam in itself. However, the book does indeed address many of the aspects of Islam & goes to some length to reveal to the reader that the God of the Bible & the God of Islam are definitely NOT one & the same Person.

These potentiallly contentious issues are approached sensitively & respectively with appropriate references being made in relation to the Hebrew-Christian Scriptures & the Islamic Holy books to clarify this point from the perspective of both sides. The text revealing from the Holy Bible that the God of the Bible has a Son, Jesus Christ, whereas the God of Islam, Allah, is described in the Quran as having no son whatsoever. Other pivotal differences between the two religions are also addressed with due reference to the above sources.

This book is described as specificallly being written out of a burden for the Church & as a "wake-up calll for Christians" with the book declaring that due to the ravages of secularisation & other similar "distractions", the Church has largely turned it's back upon God & left a vacuum which is alllegedly being increasingly filled by Islam.

The reader is shown where the Church has failed in so many areas & where repentance & renewal are so desperately needed.

Some might disagree with some observations of the writer, but this study presents an absorbing case to answer & honestly addresses these issues whilst pointing the Church in the right direction.

The writer addresses the situation primarily in the United Kingdom, but it is clearly evident that the message applies equallly throughout the Western World.

This is not a scare-mongering book, but a very courageous, significant, & extremely important work which I highly recommend. It is extremely well presented & will hold the reader's attention throughout. Thank you.
