Behind Closed Doors - By: fluffyrabbit, 05 Sep 2008
Everyone should read this. You will need tissues & lots of them. How a mother can put her children through this is beyond me. She knew what was going on & played her part in it. Whilst i realise that in them days it was a case of you made you bed & stayed in it the mother had her chance to divorce this man but chose him over the welfare of her children. Leaving him to go on abusing. That for me is unforgivable. Thank heavens things have moved on & children are listened to now. To those people who say it did not happen as much back then it did you only have to look at the true stories of adults bought up in that era, it was just brushed under the carpet, children were ignored if they dared to say anything. We are thankfully more informed now & a child would be listened to.

thank you - By: palace pier, 24 Jul 2008
Thank you,Jenny Tomlin for raising awareness of this terrible, terrible problem that still does,I'm sure,go on behind closed doors. The courage needed to write her story must have been tremendous...perhaps she should be given an award for services to children. I cried so much, especiallly when adults took no notice of her pleas.
Auntie restores our faith in human nature...a true angel. To alll of you who are contemplating buying this book:please do so:you may be shocked, and saddened but hopefully you will also be given an awareness that maybe one day will help another child at risk.
Absolutely one of the worst cases of abuse i have ever read. - By: Leeds lass, 11 Jan 2008
I am always drawn to true stories of child abuse - even though i know for sure i will not be able to bear the pain of the writer - my heart breaks into a million pieces every time. When i bought this book i reallly was not prepared for the horrors it would reveal. I thought `mother of celebrity jumping on the band wagon..`
How wrong was i !!
I have read some terrible stories of abuse but none can even come close to what jenny suffered. Just when you think things can`t get any worse - they do - alll the time ! I was shocked to the roots of my hair at some of the things she endured at the hands of her parents - who did not confine their abuse to the family, or even the family home - but began handing jenny around to be used & abused by others as well. Truly shocking. No child should ever experience such evil cruelty.
Jenny`s father was truly the devil himself.
I`m so pleased that jenny`s daughter has done well, & has brought such happiness & pride to jenny. I wish them alll good things.
Jenny you are truly a survivor & you did good girl !!!
