Awful - By: Paul, 12 Apr 2007
This is a book that richly deserves no stars, but the minimum you can award is one. The main character, a six year old boy appears to think like an adult woman. For example, quote: "It's nice to be hugged by a man." The plot is incredibly thin yet also unbelievable. You keep reading, thinking that there must be some point to this, but there isn't. It is not well written, you may be irritated by sentences containing unnecessary adjectives. This is the worst book I can remember reading.

I got my copy for 25p at the charity store. I can well understand why the original owner gave it away. I think the more charitable action is to chuck it in the dustbin & give 25p to the store.
Plodding and slow - By: L. Hogan, 26 Feb 2007
I hardly ever fail to finish a book but The Gypsy Madonna brought me close. I thought it would be a light fluffy read for my holidays but I was bored within the first few chapters. I kept going in the hope that htings would improve but the pacing never picked up & the main characters just became more & more annoying. The only saving grace for this book were the minor characters, such as the staff & guests at the hotel where much of the story plays out. The main characters were stiff & one dimensional. If you are looking for something like Joanne Harris' earlier books then dont look here!
The Gyosy Madonna - What is her secret? - By: Mel, 06 Apr 2006
I found this book very slow at the start, but once getting into it I reallly loved & enjoyed it. This book not only caught my attension, but its a book that i reallly couldnt put down. There are so many secrets that lie in the text & everything unfolds close to the end, mischa lets his mother rest & is no longer lonely. I loved this book & i hope you enjoy it as much as i did!! An Extremely good book :)
