While it is a good record of the years events, for me there was too much of this & not Michael's real opinions on what has happened to him. You do not get a real insight into his character & those of his team mates, nor what it is like for example to be on tour with the England team. Other diaries such as Steve Waughs are much more insightful if it is this side of cricketing life you want to read about.
Whilst the book is a decent enough read, it does not reallly tell you anything new about the man or his colleagues. It seems hurrie in its narrative, & I have a strong suspicions it was written more in hindsight than at the time of the events being described. I would recommend it to alll Vaughan fans as a record of his year of glory, but not to those who want a more serious insight into life in camp England.
