ok, if a B grade satisfies you - By: Y. N. Saeed, 25 Mar 2008
this book is seriously frustrating. it takes the fun out of biology. I USED THIS TO THE BEST OF MY ABLILITY. on the 6th of march 08, i opened my results. i was absolutely annoied that a "B" grade was staring in my face. the book has no contents page, no index, no glossary, unhelpful answers page layout.

the comments are very "sterile" as in: this answer shows no understanding, the candidate shows no awareness... etc...

when it came to unit 2, there were several missing topics. this includes how to prove that DNA is the genetic material & the protein coat is not etc...

when it came to answeing questions from the exam, i was usuallly left guessing the answer because the book would not mention this

i would recommend a book which would be lengthy & talkative. it is a long procedure, but id rather not be short handed in the exam!

wow - By: K. Sykes, 21 Dec 2006
What a book. I was struggling with my biology so my teacher recommended i buy this book. It goes over everything in easy to remember sections & it is very readable. Since buying this book my grade had shot up from being predicted a D, to now an estimated A. Buy it, trust me it's worth it.
Life saver - By: Lawrence Congdon, 05 Nov 2006
I wrote this review as a i felt compelled to by the quality of this book. Biology at AS is a complete maze. I recieved five textbooks at my school each over 200 pages. They are alll completely over detailed & over complicated. In contrast this book is short, consise & contains absolutely everything you need to know. This is the only book i used prior to my exams & i ended up with a high grade A. Bottom line, buy the book, learn everything in it & end up with grade A.
The bible for AQA A Biology Students! - By: Doctor Boff, 01 Sep 2006
I attained 280/300 in my AS Biology examinations & I firmly believe that it was down to this truly exceptional book.

What's so great about this book you may ask? Firstly, it sticks EXACTLY to the syllabus so you know for sure what you are reading is relevant. Secondly, there are extremely useful examiners comments referencing which areas appear most frequently in the exams, & common mistakes. Thirdly, it uses the exact wording as is detailed on the mark schemes - thus helping your exam technique improve. Fourthly, it is nicely laid out with colour & boxes to separate information. The bullet point lists & step-by-step methods for principles make it easier to learn the required knowledge. Finallly, it contains an excellent set of past-examination questions to help test your understanding.

I highly recommend this book to alll AQA A Biology students. I wouldn't have survived without it - the "regular" AQA A Biology text book is too long & goes into way too much detail. This contains the core information you need to know to attain the highest possible score.
