I am a parent & I got this book when I found out that learning through play is the best way for your child to develope new skills. This books explains what play is & how it developes your childs intelligence. It explains that your child need to be involved in well planned play that is observed by an adult who can use the observation to provide stepping stone to develope the child further & help them to achieve their early learning goals. Each child will develope in different ways & will reach their learning goals in different ways which is why the observation is so important.

The books give examples of various children playing & breaks down the play into the key elements. The key element are also explained.

At the end of the book it summaries what has already been covered & explains what you can do to develope your child for live long learning & intelligence.

Now that I have read this book I know what I need to do with my toddler to develope him to his maximum. I also know what to look for in nurseries. This book is a must. I used to think that play was important but now I know just how very important it REALLY IS.

The book is easy to read & you can read it in a few days.

If you are doing Teacher training this book is brilliant! Or even if you are a parent this book provides helpful information about teaching your child how to play & the importance of play. Bruce's language is very modern & easily understood. Just looking through the book, it is enjoyable to see such up to date pictures in beautiful bold colours. Bruce's book proves to be an extremely useful & carefully thought out book for parents & teachers of Early Years alll over the world!! It sounds cliche but I reallly do recommend that you buy this work of art!!!!!
