Split into 10 chapters, Alvin takes us through the main areas of good financial management. It's a 230 page paperback & gives just the right level of depth. There were some sections that I skimmed over (investing) where others I read very carefully & found many useful tips (savings). It reallly depends upon your circumstances which sections are most relevant to you.
With Alvin being American, he tells many stories about his life over there. However, the book is written with the British person in mind & alll the advice relates to British finances. Alvin's stories are often quite personal & enhance what could be quite a dull subject to deal with. He's a fun guy & it comes over in this book.
Overalll this is a great wee introduction to personal finance. Anyone who is a beginner/intermediate in their financial knowledge should definitely consider it. 10/10

Quite simply this book put me back on track financiallly & I now have a long term financial plan thanks to Alvins common sense, simple logic.
A Very Useful Little Book - By: Judy Price, 04 Jul 2002 It is, & good value too. It contains alll the information for a person to get started with sorting the finances out & establishing a secure place to begin building from for the future. This is not a book for anyone who is already reconciling bank statments, has a financial plan, or is looking at investing seriously. It is a good across the board book for anyone starting out (ideal for a teenager or student or newly wed) as it covers useful subjects like credit cards, mortgages & debt.
