Poignant - By: , 27 Jun 2004
This book is up to Jeffrey Deaver's usual high standards, but with a depth of poignancy I found quite touching. The characters are so real, I dreamt about them for days. If you haven't read this, I strongly recomend that you do. Not only does it open your eyes, but it makes you look at the Blue Movies senario with a different outlook.
Hooked by Rune - By: , 07 Apr 2002
This is the second Rune novel. I was quite impressed with the first one, but this second one literallly blew me away!

Rune is an absolutely great character. She is likeable, amusing, & great company. Deaver's writing is puncy, to the point, & exciting. I found myself turning the pages rapidly.

the plot is reallly good, as always with a Deaver novel. there is also some emotion packed in with it. There is excitement, tension, intrigue...alll the things you need to make a good thriller. these Rune books are reallly easy, they're light, too, but not over simple. I find them even more pageturners than his normal stuff. i don't know why...i just reallly cant wait to find out whats going to happen & why. the characters are compelling & the plot great.

i reallly cannot describe what i like so much about this series, but i absolutely love it! It is a breath of fresh air, & i am reallly sad that there is only one book left. i reallly hope Deaver writes another Rune book sometimes, because this reallly is a great series.

With "Death os A Blue Movie Star" he creates his usual complex plot, & packs it with stuff. it's fast paced, & fairly races along to what is an absolutely stunning climax, in true Deaver style. As always, there are several twists throughout the book, & its great fun trying to guess what they'll be...and i was not right once!

Deaver is the best thriller/suspense writer out there. I love his books to pieces.

compulsive reading as always! - By: , 15 Jun 2001
This is the second book of the trilogy with Rune as the main "detective type" character. She's a young girl in New York working for a company that produces tv commercials. Her dream is to become a film maker. There is a bomb explosion in an adult film theater & Rune has the idea of making a film about the bombing & an actress involved in the adult cinema.

As always Rune is a very curious person & puts herself in danger in order to get what she's looking for. The story is very interesting & very believable. The first book presented the character a bit weak & you weren't so attached as you would be with Rhymes/Sachs, but this is so much better. The book gives a lot of info about bombs. You get the usual twists but the last ones (even on the last two pages) are so surprising!

Easy reading with loads of suspence. Deaver is great & I am looking forward to read the next Rune book!

Light-weight but surprisingly enjoyable - By: , 14 Jun 2001
I must admit that the book didn't start of very well with rather stilted dialogue & rather obvious hooks. But just a couple of chapters into the book the characters seemed to take off. It was like the author just overcame some sort of threshold & then ran with the plot. It is not the best of his books but is charming in a quirky kinda way.
