A Great Read - By: Natalie Oughton, 15 Jun 2006
This book is fantastic, well the whole trilogy is amazing. I read the trilogy first about 5 years ago but recently reread them, only i realised i didn't own the last book & had an agonising wait while it arrived from amazon!

This series is reallly addictive. It was very different to anything i had ever come across before. Definately new & fresh. The descriptions are wonderfully true to whitby & along with Dracula it is a must for Whitby residents & holidayers.

The Aufwaders are a wonderful group of characters & it's worth reading the books to understand what i'm talking about. This book is reallly easy to get into & reallly addictive once you do.
Brilliantly evil - By: , 12 Nov 2001
Amazing, fantasic, intriguing, horrifying, mysterious with loads of suspense. Good & evil fight again in this terrific book. There are loads of individual plots that alll come together. An inspired book. Brilliant wherever you are, but if you think you can stand the horror, read it in Whitby

Great book, gives you something to do for a day or more - By: , 11 Aug 2001
This book is brilliant, with everything we expect from Robin Jarvis - atmosphere, tension, unpredictability & characters it's easy to relate to, plus the usual load of terrifying evils & chilling monsters. For me, this wasn't as good as the other Robin Jarvis books but that was partly due to the similarities between Ursula Webster from The Wyrd Museum Trilogy, the Starwife from the Deptford Mice Trilogy & Miss Boston in this book. Robin Jarvis can get away with the same kind of character in two trilogies, but not in three. If you haven't read the other trilogies, you won't find this usual territory & I can guarantee you'll love it.
A great story if you like witches (not literally!) - By: , 13 Jun 2001

That was until a relative wrote & said they wanted to look after them but this relative had a different insentive which had something to do with Ben!I liked it because it was gripping & you'd like it if you like Stories about witches!Have a read............
