Pasos - is it past it? - By: Juanita, 30 Apr 2006
An alll encompassing book but does not seem to fill mature (pension age) students with enthusiasm. Needs more on emergency situations - in this day & age how about bomb scares, terrorism, etc & also medical problems for older people with pre-existing health problems, - i.e. heart, diabetes, etc.
another thing older students worry about is obviously crime - robbery, muggings etc. a book is sorely needed which would help improve confidence in older people heading for Spain but totallly unaware of how the 'systems' work. a text book specificallly produced for such students would be welcomed by outreach tutors.

wonderful - By: Bernard M. Abel, 07 Mar 2005
Learning a new language is never an easy task. getting into a new way of saying things, a new morphology, new syntaxis..Pasos does reallly help though. Tons of exercise, easy to memorise vocabulary lists, interresting texts..Try to buy the complete pack (with the recordings & the activity book). get yourself a English - Spanish - English dictionnary.. that s alll you will ever need . I m using it at home , for self studies..and it works perfectly. Also, it reallly does help to either watch spanish TV or listen to spanish radio (Cadena Dial on Astra 1.)
It s amazing how helpful it is, even if you don t understand it alll.
Practice, practice and then practice some more. - By: C. Jeffs, 20 Nov 2002
Excellent! If you want plenty of exercises to back up the main text then this is the book for you. You don't even need to be using the Pasos text books to find this activity book useful. It would suit any beginner as additional practice exercises.

The activity book is split into the same chapters as Pasos 1 & contains more exercises than you could ever need to consolidate your learning. It is fantastic for checking that you've remembered the lesson & expanding slightly on each topic. There's so many exercises you can leave some & come back to them later for revision purposes. A wonderful resource.

A good accompaniment - By: C. Jeffs, 20 Nov 2002
I've been using this book as a text for my evening class & it is well thought-out, clear & comprehensive. Each chapter uses a variety of examples to reinforce learning including drawings, text, photographs, exercises & the cassette. The variety ensures that your interest is held throughout.

Of course, going to the country is almost always going to be the most efficient way to learn a language but many of us don't have the opportunity to do so. This book offers an excellent alternative.

good learning guide if you aren't going to the country - By: , 29 Dec 2001
Maybe it's my age, but learning through this book & evening classes is a slow process. You DO learn the basics which is very important, but to actuallly be there (Spain) in the flesh & talk to spaniards is a much better & quicker way of learning. Dictionary at the end isn't much help as it's only english into spanish, I would prefer the other way round, but overalll good book - clear & straightforward.
