A Quiver full of Arrows...or a missed target? - By: L. Fleming, 02 May 2008
A collection of 12 short stories written by one of my favourite authors proved a little disappointing. I'm not a particular fan of short stories; I prefer to invest time into characters & a plot. The title of the book suggests that you will be reading a collection of short, sharp tales which will drive a point home.

There is a sense of "and the moral of this story is" with this collection. There's also a heavy focus on Oxford, where Archer studied & obviously has fond memories of, & of the life of the privileged classes in general. Some tend to alienate, some are mildly amusing & others are just plain silly - The First Miracle being a case in point.

Each story is undoubtedly well written by the intelligent, articulate & literate Archer. However, I was a long way from being bowled over, as I have been by his other work.

Excellent to dip into - By: Florrie 22, 19 May 2007
I agree with the previous reviewer wholeheartedly. Jeffrey Archer is undoubtedly one of the best storytellers I've ever read. No wonder this is a number 1 bestseller!
If you enjoy short stories then this is for you. Great to dip in & out of on short commutes or in your workbreak.
A marvellous collection!
Captivating and enthralling from the get-go - By: Mr. Simon G. Beauchamp, 10 Sep 2001
Jeffrey Archer proves with this effort that he is one of the most talented writers of fictional stories there is. I particularly enjoyed 'One Night Stand' which deals with the stoney ground of mutual attraction & delves into the mind of both parties in various situations. If you appreciate a good quality short story after the other then you will find this to be a suitable purchase.
