Just a great book - mine is dated 1980 & I wouldn't part with it.
I recommend it to alll novice cat breeders. I'm sure there are parts of it out of date but so much is SO relevant. And for the parts that are a bit 'old-fashioned' - that's where advice from experienced breeders plays its part.
Book of the Cat - By: Miss F K Bevan, 11 Nov 2003 This is an excellent book for anyone wanting to know alll the details on looking after a cat to breeding cats. It also has a chapter on the evolution of the cat & the different breeds of cat available.
It a must for cat lovers everywhere!!!
The book of the cat - By: , 10 Jun 2003 My husband & I origanallly bought this book when considering buying a pedegree cat. We bought two male Burmese cats & found this to be an excellent book of knowledge. We referred to the book a lot. It explained how the cats would develope, but also helped us to decide on adding a female to our family for breeding.
Our female cat has since produced two large beautiful litters & this book has been a god send to us. We have been able to follow the devlopment of the kittens & learnt how to ween them too. How ever this last litter she had a kitten that was born not breathing, so the first aid part helped us to know what to do, giving us the confidence to at least try to save the kitten, even though we still lost it as it was still born.
This book is our bible & we would highly recommend it. It is an A - Z directory.
