This book was recommended for my Biomedical Science degree.
It is good if you have never done a Biology A-level & are doing a Biology degree. However if you are doing a specialist course, focussed on Human Biology, buy specialist books.
The fact that it compared animal Biology to humans is what put me off & the level of language isn't degree level at alll.
Also I think this is more suited to A-level students & if I'd have known about it I would have used it pre-degree & got better results!

Having just started a Biosciences degree i have found this book to be easy to read & it doesn't assume any prior knowlege like so many other books do. The accompanying cd is great with lots of quizes & other activies to reallly help alll the information to sink in.
But the best thing is the access to the online materials. The book alllows one year access & the cover price of the book is worth paying for the web site alone.
Buy this book & falll in love with life :)

This book is a wonderful text for a first year degree biologist; it is easy to read with many clear illustrations & diagrams & the interactive material is good.
However, once you have past the first year, this book is of little use to you, & you will require more detailed texts specific to your modules. Thus, this book proves costly.
Personallly, I found it wonderful & a real asset in my first year, & have utterly ignored it in my second.
