adobe photoshop 7 Classroom in a book - By: TEE, 06 Dec 2004
I have found this book reallly helpful considering I didnt know a thing about Photoshop to begin with. I constantly use it for reference. I think it provides a good base knowledge.
The perfect companion for PhotoShop 7.0 software. - By: P. Jones, 18 Jul 2004
I bought this book after buying a digital camera, & the PS7.0 software.
Firstly, it is written by the 'Adobe' people themselves, & is split into 18 'Lessons' (Chapters, if you like). The CD-Rom included with the book contains sample photographs for you to manipulate with instruction, & I had no problem loading the CD-Rom onto my machine.
I found that each 'lesson' takes about one to two hours to complete, so you are talking about 30-40 hours in total. The lessons are clearly laid out in step-by-step format, & I was truly impressed with what 'Photoshop' manipulation can do to tidy up ordinary photographs.
Every topic is covered, from simply how to remove 'red-eye', to layering, & preparing pictures for the 'web'.
All in alll, a superb book, well written & easy to understand. The only (minor) gripe I could find was that the cover shows up greasy fingerprints very easily, so protect your purchase with a clear, wipe-clean plastic cover (99p a roll).
A book of this price should come with a decent, hardwearing outer cover.
Clearly Helpful - By: , 22 Nov 2003
I bought this book when I bought Photoshop, because I find a manual easier to negotiate than some of the software help lines. The book breaks the system down into bite sized pieces, which with a progamme as complex as photshop is necessary. you can jump in anywhere you want, or go through it in order, also because the CD is with the book you can repeat any lesson as often as you need too. Each lesson is simple to follow & keeps you focused so that you finish each step feeling that you have accompplished something, instead of wandering aimlessly through the programme & remembering nothing. The review Q&A at the & of each section also lets you know how much you've reallly taken in & the book is always there if you forget halfway throgh a project what the order of something is, you can instantly locate the relevant chapter & refresh you memory.
All in alll, this book( as a rank beginner) is the one I always have to hand when I'm Photoshopping, and I reallly wouldn't be without it. Top Marks!
Adobe Photoshop 7 - Classroom in a Book - By: John Farrar, 13 Nov 2003
The book does what it says on the front - Guides you simply, quitely & scholarly through the mass of techniques offered with the parent software. To complete the training in a classroom situation, were that available, would take a lot more time & money than the book. Another advantage is that you learn entirely at your own pace & can repeat the sections you are particularly interested in at any time by just reloading the apprpriate lesson from the CD provided. Excellent value & much easier than the Help within the Software which is also very good.
Keep it handy - By: C. D. Sherwood, 08 May 2003
Not the most inspiring of books & I was left with the feeling that it had been written by someone who was not overly keen on the job. I found it hard work & it reminded me of the alll too dry school books of my youth.
Having said that it is, as you would expect, an invaluable source of reference & is one of those books that should be on your shelf if you are new to Adobe Photoshop 7.
