Disappointed..... - By: , 08 Dec 2003
I was very disappointed with this book. I didn't like the way it was written. There was no depth to any of the stories, the details in the book could easily have been picked up from media reports of the crimes. A little more detail & a lot more research could have improved this book. It stumbled on from one story to the next. In alll the book was a real letdown.
back to slavery? - By: , 14 Oct 2003
This is a true crime book with diffrent true stories. Some are very horrific & the details written gives you goosebumps everywhere. Wensley Clarkson's best so far, & I have read a few. The book is about slaves in this modern world, & you might think it would not exist but it does.Reallly recommend this book becouse it is alll true!!!
true crime is more frighting than fiction! - By: , 15 Jan 2001
This is a collection of true stories, some of which are told by the victims who were kept as slaves for years, sometimes from birth. Wensly Clarkson has done a exellent job of writing more than 20 reports of slavery from alll over the world. some of the vitims have been sold by poor familys or cruel husbands, sometimes just kidnaped from the streets this is not a book for the faint hearted! One of the most horrific stories is about a man who by day drove a rolls royce, but behind closed doors kept five girls chained up in a celler with a sick dream of impregnating them to create is own family! more so when one of the girls died she was chopped up & fed to the other starving slaves This is a well writen book, though some of the stories can be a bit repetative. Another great tittle to read is "the perfect victim"by christine mcguire & carla norton. I just could not put these books down, a must read.
