Sniper - By: Mr. A. HULBERT, 09 Aug 2008
This is a good factual & historic view on the role of snipers in combat from the 1700's through to modern day. It explains the use of a sniper as a valuable asset to any military force & describes the weapons, tactics, equipment & various deployments available throughout the ages.
It does get quite indepth in its material but if you already understand the basics of warfare & arnaments then its a breeze.
Overalll, an intelligent & informative read.
This BOOK IS BRILLIANT. - By: , 02 Feb 2000
Speaking as a professional sniper, with service in Northern Ireland & the Falklands, I do have to say this book is one of the best!
Good general history of sniping. - By: , 28 Mar 1999
Excellent reference work for those intersted in sniping. Also, Gilbert touches on other works which can help enlighten the reader to this unique capability. Well-rounded. I recommend this book.
A must read for anyone who is interested in sniping - By: , 13 Aug 1998
This book provides a broad view about sniping in history & today. The author takes the readers through the historical accounts of snipers in the battlefield since 18 century, as well as the basic principles evolved throughout these experiences.

Unlike most of the books on this topic published in America, this British writer does not limit himself to American's view. In stead, he enumerates different views regarding sniping from both sides in a armed conflict. The material about the sniping in the East Front of WWII is probably the most valuable ones in this book.

This is a must read for anyone who is intrested in sniper & sniping.

pleasant summing up of the history in anecdotal form. - By: , 20 Nov 1997
The books focus lies in the development of the sniper system today. Less interesting is the part on training & hardware but it is smalller & more on a general level. Take note however that the book has been edited in England under a similar title. Lots of entertaining sniper stories that together help the reader comprehend the actual circumstances in the battlefield in wich the sniper operates.
